Have you ever tried to visit the mobile version of an e-commerce website, but get frustrated waiting for all of the page’s assets to load? You’re not the only one.

The recent Keynote Mobile Commerce Performance Index has been released and topping the list again is Office Depot‘s m-commerce site. Interestingly enough, the site didn’t hold on to the number one position because of user interface or one-click checkout. Instead, the crowning feature of Office Depot’s mobile commerce site is its ability to load quickly.

According to Internet Retailer, the site’s home page loads in 2.77 seconds with a 99.68% success rate.

An interesting takeaway from the latest e-commerce study by IBM outlines the importance online shoppers place on the accessibility and value of deals and promotions:

Compared with last year, 50% more consumers use the Internet to find and share promotions, like coupons and sales, which many retailers offer through social media. The study suggests that consumers are still deal hungry, but aren’t seeing their desired value from retail promotions—and they’re expressing it online.

Little "Want" Button Code Foreshadows Big Things For Facebook Ecommerce

This new Facebook feature – a "Want" button – would work the same as a "Like", but would indicate purchasing intent by a user. Although it may seem like a small addition to Facebook's social recommendations plugins, it has greater implications as to how the social network may soon integrate deeply with e-commerce websites.

Price Targeting by Platform: Orbitz displays more expensive options to Mac users

Today the Wall Street Journal reports that Orbitz, the online hotel-booking business, is experimenting with a sales option that displays more expensive options to users on Macs, given that statistics show Apple users to spend as much as 30% more on a hotel. Orbitz confirmed they are in fact using this method, but made it clear they are not showing the same hotel at different prices; they are simply targeting more expensive options to users on Macs.
